Actress Sofia Vergara and actor Joe Manganiello have agreed to finalize their divorce, according to court filings obtained by PEOPLE on Friday.
The divorce proceedings are advancing as an uncontested action, indicating that both parties have reached a written agreement concerning their property and marriage, which is being or has been submitted to the court.
Terms of the Agreement:
In the filing, Manganiello, 47, requested termination of spousal support for both parties. The proposed judgment stipulates that attorney fees will be ordered as outlined in the agreement.
However, representatives for Manganiello and Vergara have not provided comments on the matter.
Background and Previous Announcements:
The former couple, who declared their split in July through a joint statement shared with Page Six, had been married for seven years since tying the knot in November 2015.
In the statement, they emphasized their mutual love and care for one another and requested privacy as they guide this new phase of their lives.
Reasons Behind the Split:
In a following interview with the Spanish newspaper El País in January, Vergara disclosed that their desire to expand their family contributed to the breakup.
She explained that while Manganiello, being younger, wished to have children, she did not want to become a mother at an older age. Vergara cited her readiness to transition into grandmotherhood, given that she already has a grown son from a previous marriage.
Since the announcement of their split, both Vergara and Manganiello have moved forward in their personal lives.
Manganiello has been romantically linked with actress Caitlin O’Connor, while Vergara has been spotted with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman on multiple occasions.
